ReadyVIN ("ReadyVIN," "we," "us") is a digital product operated by Limelight. We help vehicle owners look up basic information about their car using its VIN. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using readyvin.com (the "Service"), you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

• Account information. If you create an account, we collect your email address and a password. Passwords are never stored in plain text — they are protected using one-way encryption (hashing).
• Vehicle lookups. When you look up a VIN, we process that VIN to retrieve vehicle information. If you are logged in and choose to save a lookup, the VIN and decoded vehicle name are stored in your account history.
• Photos you submit. If you use the photo feature to read a VIN, the image is sent to our server and to a third-party AI provider solely to extract the VIN. We do not build a permanent library of your photos.
• Technical data. Like most websites, our servers may automatically record basic log data such as IP address, browser type, and time of access for security and reliability.

How we use your information

• To provide the Service and show you vehicle information.
• To create and secure your account and save your lookup history.
• To read a VIN from a photo you submit.
• To maintain the security, integrity, and performance of the Service.

Third-party services

We rely on a small number of trusted providers to operate the Service:

• Vehicle data is retrieved from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) public VIN database.
• Photo VIN reading is performed by an AI provider (Anthropic) that processes the submitted image to return the VIN text.
• Advertising. We may use Google AdSense to display ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies at www.aboutads.info.

Cookies

We use a secure login cookie to keep you signed in. If advertising is enabled, third-party partners such as Google may also place cookies as described above. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; disabling the login cookie will prevent you from staying signed in.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers listed above, as needed to operate the Service, or where required by law.

Data security

We protect your data using industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and hashed passwords. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to safeguard your information.

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
